It's not the cheapest place, but Shichiri-mihama beach is very close, and the stay was okay. The shared bathroom was an ofuro/onsen-style bath, so there wasn't really a proper shower. The male staff member at check-in seemed unfriendly, while the woman at checkout was helpful and friendly.

The location is convenient, about a five-minute walk from the train station, and Aeon and a small Daiso 100 yen shop are easy to reach on foot. There's free WiFi and basement laundry machines with dryers. You don't need coins, and soap is available to buy. The property is old, and the bathrooms are tiny even by Japanese standards. If you're over 5' 8", ask for a "Foreigners" size room. The "Japanese" rooms have doorways only 5' 8" high, so expect to duck often.

Walking the Kumano Kodo Iseji route in the rain, I had a pleasant night here. The location was handy, the staff were friendly, and I really enjoyed the shower and spa bath.

The bedsheet was very clean, though the carpet looked really old.

Not much in the way of service, but good value for the price.
