Watermark Hotel Okinawa Kume Island

We only booked here because our dates landed on a very busy time on the island and it was our only option, but we ended up being glad we stayed. The beds were comfortable, the room was very clean, and the staff were great. I’d definitely recommend it for a visit to Kumejima.

We were out from 7am until 9pm most days, so the huge room and extra bed for our child worked perfectly. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but comfortable and clean, with all the amenities in place. The staff get 10 stars for being friendly and helpful. We didn’t try the food because our schedule didn’t allow it, but it looked good.

The staff were smiling, friendly, and relaxed, and the shop was handy for grabbing a cold beer to have by the pool. The resort has a laid-back feel, a nice pool, and activities like mini golf, tennis, and table tennis. It’s baby-friendly too. Our deluxe room was spacious and well equipped. Dinner at the restaurant was good, especially the rare tuna cutlet. Breakfast was decent as well. The Akabana BBQ course deserves a mention: it tasted great and the portions were surprisingly generous.

We came for our 20th anniversary and had a wonderful time, thanks to the staff and manager. They gave us a great room on the 5th floor, and everyone was extremely hospitable. The hotel has a rustic feel, and it offers a private kind of stay. Eef Beach is just a minute away on foot, with a convenience store and supermarket about five minutes away. Lunch at the restaurant was delicious too. Kume island feels largely unspoiled, even compared with the main island of Okinawa. Walking along its streets and roads, you can really feel the Okinawan countryside. Thanks to everyone who made our anniversary unforgettable.
