Our table looked out onto a refreshing garden, and the service was quick, courteous, and excellent. We had a lovely mini kaiseki lunch, healthy, beautiful, and delicious, with grape and peach juice and green tea that were both good. The food felt made with love and was a wonderful example of Japanese hospitality. Bad weather cancelled the boat ride, and Google Maps began warning that trains from Kurashiki Station were delayed or cancelled. We asked to move lunch earlier so we could get home, and Ryokan Kurashiki staff kindly fit us in almost an hour ahead of our reservation. The restroom had a fully automated toilet with a self-opening and closing lid, plus automatic sink water and soap, a nice touch in a traditional ryokan. It's nearly opposite the Bikan Historical Quarter Boat Ride, across the canal from the pretty bridge and next to Momoko Peach Cafe. I'd come back!

The apartment was so clean we wondered if we were the first guests, and it was comfortable with a little garden outside to look at. It was thoughtfully equipped; we couldn't think of anything we needed that wasn't already there. Having a washer-dryer was especially handy. The staff were extremely helpful, and the location was very central. We loved our four-night stay at Ryokan Kurashiki Residence Omayo and would gladly recommend it and return.

We especially enjoyed walking through the quiet Bikan Historical Quarter at night and early in the morning. The villa is in a lovely spot in the Bikan Historical Quarter, below Achi Shrine, and fits in with the townscape like the main building of Kurashiki Ryokan. Inside, reclaimed wood is used well alongside modern facilities, and it was a very comfortable stay. Everything is included and provided, so we could practically live there. Meals are at the main building, just a short walk away. The service was good and the food delicious. The parking lot is a little distant, but that wasn't a problem. We stayed over the New Year's holiday.
