I especially loved the local denim pajamas, peach juice, and local glass in the room. Junko took so much time to help us get settled, then sat with us and wrote down restaurant suggestions based on what we like. Her English was great and I felt looked after the whole time. The room was huge, with a separate living room and private access to a big bath. Both the beds and living area were really comfortable, and we had a lovely view over the historic area. Having keys for our room and the outer hallway made us feel safe. It was also nice to be the only guests in the building. Best inn experience I’ve had.

Our host welcomed us with tea and local treats, then took time to explain how to enjoy the old city and find its more interesting shops. The apartment was a highlight of our Japan trip, and I’d highly recommend it. It’s a small place in a beautifully restored traditional house, tastefully furnished and full of sunlight. Even on a freezing day in January it felt warm and cozy.

May made us feel so welcome and really made the stay. She even arranged a reservation for us at Sami restaurant, where they accommodated our dietary needs. That meal was the best I’ve ever had. The care and detail in the food and in sourcing its ingredients were world class. The accommodation is lovely, right in the historic part of town. Thanks for such a great stay.

We had lots of space: an entry area, living room, bedroom, and sink area. The living room overlooks the street and has a table where you can sit and enjoy the view. The one awkward part was getting to the bathroom, which is downstairs via a steep staircase and a short, partly outdoor hallway. Middle-of-the-night trips felt a bit precarious. Apart from that, my wife and I had a fantastic stay at this traditional-style inn. The room was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were very kind, gave us local information at check-in, and served a tasty snack with fresh peach juice, a local specialty. While we were out exploring, they also left a honeymoon gift basket for us. We wish we’d booked the sister restaurant too, since the food there is probably just as good given the care and service here.
