Hotel Kurobe

The view from the onsen was a highlight. I could relax in the water and watch nature, away from the tourist crowds. The mountains change colors, and early in the morning you can see the trolley train go by. Everything about the location and the view was so good.

The spacious room had comfortable futons, and the hotel offers a shuttle to and from Unazuki Onsen Station. You can use it at any time by calling them. I was especially impressed by the care from Ikeda-sama, who I believe was the counter staff member who helped my sister and me during our stay. I misplaced an item in the room, and the hotel contacted me before I even got in touch. After I gave them my next hotel’s details, they also took the initiative to contact that hotel and arrange delivery. For an affordable accommodation-only stay, the service was top notch and felt genuinely thoughtful. It left a great impression.

The food was wonderful, and if you have to leave before breakfast you can ask for a takeaway breakfast bento. I really enjoyed my stay and will visit again. The room was lovely, the view gorgeous, and the outdoor onsen was so relaxing. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, but the hotel van can pick you up at scheduled times. The hotel has been renovated recently. Highly recommended!

The service, meals, and views from both the room and baths were good, and a free shuttle runs between the station and hotel. The hotel is expensive and very old, and its age shows. It was maintained well and everything worked, but I’ve had similar stays for less, so the value didn’t feel there. Whether you add or subtract a point probably depends on how much you like Showa-era retro style.
