The staff were very friendly, the service was good, and the hotel was easy to reach. The huts were clean, but they smelled strongly, with the odor seeming to come from the old curtains and carpet. There was also mould on the walls and ceiling, and the place felt very dated. For this room quality, the price is too high. I'd suggest replacing the curtains, dealing with the smell and mould, and repainting the walls fresh white. The facilities need to be improved and made to look more modern.

The room was comfortable and I enjoyed the onsen. My stay was made especially pleasant by Akuzawa, who was kind and professional. She walked me through check-in in perfect English, explained the facilities, and took time to suggest places to visit in Kusatsu. I really appreciated that, since it was my first time there.

We've been back a few times, and the location is great. Our room was clean and the food was good. I noticed the disposable room slippers I remember from earlier visits weren't available anymore. The staff were generally nice, and the hot spring water deserves five stars.

We loved the beautiful log cabins we stayed in. They felt private, but were still easy to reach from the main hotel with the short shuttle, which runs 24 hours.
