For the price, I think this is very good value. There are only up to seven rooms in use each night, plus two free private onsen rooms and the larger separate men's and women's baths, which hardly seem to get used. So you can almost always get a private hot spring, which might cost quite a bit if you booked a room with one of its own. The hotel doesn't have a dining hall, so some unused guest rooms are set up as private dining spaces, which is a nice touch. It isn't the best hotel in this famous hot spring town, and the dinner and service aren't fancy, but it's great for what you pay. There's also parking, which is quite rare in the area and a plus if you're driving.

One thing that could be better: when meals were served, nobody explained the dishes, and we had to find someone just to order drinks, even water. The staff may also be hard to communicate with if you don't know Japanese. The facilities and rooms are older, and the experience isn't as glamorous as at newer ryokans. Still, it's near the town center, with balanced dinner and breakfast, and private onsens that don't need reservations, so it's tattoo friendly. It also has a traditional Japanese ryokan feel. I'd recommend it for a one-night stay if that's what you're looking for.

Dinner was exceptional, with seasonal ingredients and each dish clearly put together with care. We also tried the private onsen, which was perfect for our aching muscles. The meal was served in a private room, a lovely part of the stay. We spent a night here on our honeymoon. The owner and staff were welcoming, and the ryokan was lovely overall. Our room was comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated. When we returned from dinner, the beds were already set up. I'd happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone who likes a traditional Japanese inn.

The private onsen is small, but perfectly good, and since this isn't a large place, we never had to wait for it. My boyfriend and I had a great time here. The staff were friendly and hospitable, and the location was convenient, within walking distance of the main street. Everything else worked for us too: the food, the room, the hot spring, and the price. It was affordable and included two lovely meals. We had a spacious, clean Japanese-style room that felt warm and cozy, and dinner and breakfast were served in a private room below ours. Eating in our own space was even better than dining in a restaurant at some more expensive places. It was snowing during dinner, and the warm private room felt so cozy. For this level of service and quality at this price, it's one of the best places I've stayed.

We spent a weekday night here in summer and paid about ¥30,300 for two, including two meals and the onsen, which uses hot spring water rather than regular water. It was a pleasant stay for the price. This is an older ryokan, but our room was clean and didn't smell of tobacco. Ours had a toilet and sink but no bathroom. The two private onsens are first come, first served, and we tried both without any wait. The larger one was extremely hot, while the smaller bath was just right. The location was convenient, the staff friendly, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I liked having two private onsens without reservations, and PayPay is accepted. There weren't many amenities, just a razor and hairbrush, and the parking lot was sandy and uneven.
