The neighborhood is full of small boutique shops and pubs, with a 7-11 just around the corner. The apartment itself is lovely and has all the amenities you might need. It's a few minutes' walk to the station, and from there you can reach Shinjuku (Godzilla Street) or Shibuya station (Shibuya Scramble) in under 15 minutes.
Mari was a spectacular host, responsive and helpful, and she accommodated our needs even before our stay. The apartment is well set up with enough amenities, and it's in the famous Shimokita area, surrounded by thrift shops, vintage stores, and supermarkets. A 7 eleven and a Lawson are both within a 2 minute walk, and the Odakyu and Keio line of Shimokitazawa station are nearby. Don Quijote is about a 5-7 minute walk away. We were happy with the deal during the expensive, crowded cherry blossom period. The main downside was how cramped the place was, though we had been told about that beforehand, and Tokyo apartments are small anyway. Both wardrobes were already filled with equipment, a vacuum cleaner, and extra bedding. It would have helped if guests could use at least one. We could only open one suitcase at a time, take out clothes, and close it before the other person opened theirs. The toilet also doesn't have a bidet. Thanks again for hosting us.
The metro is really close, and we found it easy to get around Tokyo from this area. Shibuya is about 20-30 minutes away. The apartment felt spacious for a city place and was a gem, with two small outdoor areas. We had a lovely stay in a quiet Tokyo neighborhood with lots of vintage clothing shops and coffee places. There's a small kitchen for preparing food, though we didn't use it, and a washing machine.
It's very easy to find, and the train station is extremely close, with service on 2 lines. Shibuya is only a few stops away, or you can take the express train directly. It's a great jumping-off point for getting anywhere. We stayed 4 nights, and the comfortable beds, well-used space, hot water, and heat/ac made it feel like a home away from home.
We wanted a neighborhood with a nice local feel, and Shimo-Kitazawa delivered. The apartment is near the station, shops, and cafes, and it was easy to find. The host explained the simple check-in process clearly. The room was comfortable for 2, with a lovely outdoor patio and a comfy bed. There was plenty of extra bedding, and everything was clean and well maintained. We also had lots of utensils and toiletries available if we needed them. It was a great stay at a fair price. Highly recommend.
