We booked for five, and the listing on Booking.com clearly said there would be five beds, including a sofa bed. There was no sofa bed, and we were given sheets and towels for only four. I tried contacting the owners all week and got no reply. After traveling 33 hours, sleeping on a two-seat leather couch before skiing all day was pretty miserable. For four people, though, it’s a clean place with comfortable beds, a good kitchen, and a big living room.

The location is handy for Lawson, which is much less crowded than Seicomart, but getting around the lower village means a decent walk. The nearby shuttle is the East Village one, and it only comes every half hour, so you can wait or walk uphill for 10 minutes to the gondola. The living room is roomy, though the bedrooms and bathrooms are quite small, and the bathrooms don’t have Japanese-style toilets. For the price, I’ve stayed in better places in Niseko.

I visited Ezoyuki at the end of February and came away with lovely memories. It felt cozy and warm, and was the best value for money.
