That little cafe on the edge of Hirafu was such a relaxing hideaway. I loved the wooden interior and sitting inside with a cup of tea. We also ordered two different teas and tried one of the Matcha parfait-style treats. You can take part in a Japanese tea ceremony there, too. I can’t wait to go back.

The desserts are really good, and the ice cream tastes like it’s made with natural ingredients rather than artificial flavors. Just be ready for a wait, since only two staff members are making the food. It can take a while, but it’s worth it.

The pumpkin dango were chewy, and the Azuki base had just the right sweetness. I tried the dish in the photo, though I don’t know its name, and had never tasted anything like it. If you’re around Niseko and like matcha, stop by, especially on a snowy day. ☃️

The kids loved having their own little attic bedroom, with a queen mattress that fits two comfortably. Adults can’t stand upright under the low ceiling, but children should be fine. You can reach it by the safe, ordinary stairs or by climbing the wall for a more exciting way up. Downstairs, three adults fit side by side on the tatami beds on the raised sleeping platform. The room is above the cafe and kitchen on the second level, reached by a flight of stairs that could be tough with heavy suitcases. Inside, the wood finish feels modern and pleasant, and the large windows bring in plenty of light. Watching the snowflakes fall makes you want to curl up with hot green tea. It’s an interesting place to stay, with the attic above the combined living, dining, kitchen, and sleeping space.

A peaceful little cafe with good Japanese tea. The matcha ice cream is rich and full of flavor, though desserts can take some time. Watch your food, too, or the owners’ dog might grab it.
