MUSE Niseko

It was a steep price, but such a lovely place. One side had a fantastic view of Mt. Yotei, and the balcony on the other faced the slopes. The master bedroom was huge, with a huge bathroom, while the second room was smaller.

The apartment has a perfect view of Mt. Yotei, and you can walk to basically everything. The ski lift is walkable too, though it’s rather uphill, so taking the bus or car is probably better.

We’re starting to regret choosing Muse Niseko. Some of the company’s other staff have been very nice and helpful, but the way one reservation staff member handled things has left us worried about the service we’ll get during our stay. Instead of making restaurant bookings easy, Edith Leung seemed focused on finding mistakes in what we’d told them. We booked this resort for its location and because we wanted a larger apartment for our family. The Muse offers a 4-bedroom apartment by combining a 3-bedroom unit with a studio, and the online capacity for that combination is 9 adults. Last month, we emailed to ask for help with restaurant reservations and said we’d be 8 adults and 2 children, aged 3 and 4. Since then, Edith Leung has emailed us back and forth, eventually warning that they could refuse check-in if we actually exceeded 9 people. That was because we asked for restaurant reservations for 8 adults and 2 infants. We had already submitted a signed restaurant booking policy form acknowledging the restaurant cancellation policy. Even so, Edith warned us again about cancellations, both by phone and email, and asked us to fill out another booking form. We found her manner very rude and condescending. We’re paying customers and paid our deposit months in advance. This isn’t our first visit to Niseko, so we have some basis for comparison. The year before, we stayed at Terraze (from Nisade) in its penthouse, listed online for 8 people, with 7 adults and 2 infants. The reservation and service staff there were friendly and helpful before and during our stay. We question why an upcoming customer would be threatened by email and then have such difficulty getting help with restaurant reservations. If management supports this kind of service attitude, I wonder what service we’ll receive during the stay. We’d hoped for a smooth experience, but so far the staff member has only tried to pick out mistakes on our side.

Everything is easy to reach on foot from this modern, centrally located accommodation. The staff were efficient and very friendly.
