The onsen spa was my favorite part. It was clean and spacious, the open air bath was peaceful, and the dry sauna was properly hot at 89°c. The cold plunge felt icy, just right after a full day on the slopes. I was sometimes the only one there in the evening, and I'd be happy to come back. The hotel itself is new, with very comfortable beds. I stayed in late January and found the location convenient, roughly a 150m walk to the Hanazono ski lifts, though I'm not completely sure of the distance. It's not technically ski in/ski out, but there are personal ski lockers and a rental gear shop nearby. The hotel's semi-regular shuttle to Hirafu or Kutchan town was useful too, since those places have more food and drink choices than Hanazono. Club lounge access felt like a nice treat. Breakfast had a small but sufficient spread of salad, fruit, bread, and hot food, with canapés and wine from 5-8PM. It never got crowded during my four nights, and the staff were very friendly. We also had lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was delicious, but they made a mistake with our salmon & ikura don, using smoked salmon instead of fresh salmon sashimi. I would've appreciated an offer to come back the next day for a replacement meal. They offered a free drink instead, which we declined because drinks were already included with our lounge access. We were also turned down for a complimentary late checkout and told it would cost ¥9000 per hour after 11am. That was a bit disappointing, but we used the luggage storage service.

There aren't many dining options around here. We ate at Nikko Style, Edge, and Park Hyatt on some nights, and took the bus into Hirafu on the others. HANAZONO has a free bus every thirty minutes, though it stops running around 8pm. The hotel itself made our six-night January 2026 stay a memorable winter break for our family of three from Australia. Ski-in, ski-out access was so convenient, and waking up to the striking view of the ski runs was a real highlight. The peaceful feel around the property made it easy to relax. Staff were welcoming, attentive, and consistently polite. Our room was on the small side, but luxurious, lovely to look at, and very comfortable. We looked forward to breakfast each morning, with both Western and Asian dishes. The Eggs Benedict stood out. Before arriving at Nikko, I'd read some negative comments about the food and the lack of atmosphere, but we didn't find that to be true. We had a great stay, exceeded our expectations, and would happily return or recommend it to anyone after a comfortable, convenient, peaceful alpine stay.

The hotel is right by the ski area, which is a real advantage, but I found the stay disappointing. We spent ages waiting for the lifts every day, and our clothes went missing after we used the self-service laundry, adding stress to the trip. Service in the club lounge also felt unwelcoming. We went in daily, but staff didn't seem to recognize us and told us to leave after just an hour. Breakfast was another letdown: the cafe was overcrowded, and the food was the worst quality I've come across at a hotel. The club lounge breakfast wasn't much better. They didn't refill things unless we asked, so mornings were disappointing too. With the poor service, missing items, disappointing meals, and long lift waits, I wouldn't recommend this hotel based on my experience.

The ski lockers on the ground floor and the little snack shop right beside them made things easy. Hanazono's lift and gondola were only a few minutes' walk away, so the location worked well for skiing. We stayed six nights with our child in a Club Superior Room on the top floor, facing Mount Yotei. The view was stunning when the sun came out. Winter was foggy most days, so seeing it clearly was a wonderful surprise. Staff were friendly and helpful, even bringing ice packs when we were sore after skiing. Some of the food, especially local produce like potatoes, was fresh, though the selection was a little limited.

The restaurant was a good dinner option when we wanted to avoid the frustration of expensive, reservation-only places in the nearby towns. The breakfast buffet was okay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and regular shuttles to Kutchan Station and Hirafu were handy. It's a modern new hotel in Niseko's Hanazono area, with ski-in, ski-out access. The rooms are a reasonable size, and the onsen and sauna are great. The gym is decent-sized and has the latest equipment. It wasn't cheap, but I think it was a good deal and worth the money for a Niseko stay.
