The hosts are what make this place so special. Kako and Yotchan were incredibly friendly, skied with us, shared great recommendations, played games, and even gave us rides now and then. They felt like an aunt and uncle. Breakfast was amazing every morning, and the location is great, with the ski shuttle stopping right outside and restaurants and bars only a short walk away. It was very clean too. Best pension or hostel in Niseko. Can’t wait to come back and see them again.

I’m not usually one to leave reviews, and I’m not keen on shared bathrooms, but Pension Island is so clean that I’d stay here even if I had my own place. I’ve been back more than seven times and have recommended it to over ten friends, who also say it feels like family. Kako and her husband Yochan deliver the kind of pension hospitality that’s hard to find now. The location is ideal, just 10m from bus stop 5, and every detail in the house seems carefully thought through after years of running it. Her system makes it easy to relax and enjoy the holiday. Skiing involves a lot of gear and logistics, and Kako helps smooth things out with discount vouchers and calls to her friend the ski waxers. She’s beyond five stars as a concierge, and the accommodation is very fairly priced. I can’t stop raving about Pension Island. I’ll be back.

The room, shared spaces, and showers were all clean and well looked after. Kako and Yocchan made us feel welcome again, and cooked a wonderful Japanese breakfast. This was my second stay with them this year, and it was lovely to see them.

Our room was super cozy, and the meals were amazing, both dinner and breakfast. Kako & Yotchan are unbelievably lovely, and the whole stay felt like being at home. We loved Pension Island and will come back. Arigato from Switzerland!

Coming back here felt like coming home after a long time away. Everything was done and given with love, and the food was delicious. What I loved most was how Pension Island makes you feel like family. Greetings from Switzerland! We love crazy monkey Kako & Yotchan.
