Q Fox Gmg Hotel

We booked a deluxe family room for five people eleven months ahead, and paid in full. Two weeks after payment, with just three weeks before our high season stay, the hotel cancelled our room. After several days without a response, they finally downgraded us and split us into capsule style rooms. We thought the room would still be in the hotel, but it turned out to be their hostel. We got no compensation, just separate capsules for the luxury room we'd paid for. Water leaked into the rooms. They knew about it, and we went through as many as 14 towels trying to keep our things dry. The hostel did nothing beyond providing more towels. There was no working heating anywhere, the rooms were freezing, and the windows froze on the inside every day. The dining room was so cold that about 75% of people wore coats and hats. Fresh food was stored in the communal room. I estimate it was under 10°C, which may not be a food safety issue, but was a health concern for people staying there. Don't expect much help. The staff spoke barely three words of bad English. They were friendly, but not helpful. Expect this place to ruin your stay if you book here.

At this price it's manageable for a short visit, but after two nights we're glad to check out. It wasn't very clean, the showerhead was almost painful, the walls are paper thin so you hear the neighbours, and there's no Wi-Fi. Don't expect Japanese standards.

The room was small but adequate, with a kitchen and a toilet separate from the shower. The entry code was easy to use, and parking was on a nice concrete surface. Q fox has two buildings, one used for breakfast. It's about a five-minute drive to anywhere, though not really walking distance to town. We arrived at the hotel on a snowy downhill road, so driving took care. Checkout was at 10am, as is usual for most hotels here. We came for breakfast at 9:30, just as the kitchen was closing. Luckily, the Filipino helper was very kind and sorted out a meal for us. She made our day!

The staff made me feel very welcome with their friendly, professional service and warm hospitality. My room was comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed to relax. The food was delicious and fresh, with plenty of variety at every meal. I had an amazing stay and would love to return.
