Ryokan Kato

This inn lets you slow down a bit, which is a real relief when you’re busy every day. You can see the sunset at Yuhigaura when you leave, and I come back every year. The hot spring leaves my skin smooth, and the whole place feels relaxing. The landlady is kind and friendly too. The crab, sashimi, and other dishes are always delicious. I can’t manage two boiled crabs, so I usually take some home. The rice is good, the vegetables are fresh, and they’ve carefully chosen local sake to go with the meal. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year.

Everything was clean, the staff were friendly, and the meal was excellent. The crab was so fresh and tasty that I could eat it to my heart’s content. I’d happily come back.

Being so close to the ocean made me want to come back in summer and see the scenery then. My parents had told me about this inn, and this was my first stay. We had the kids with us, and they provided children’s supplies and toys, which was a big help. The landlady and staff had lovely smiles and were polite but still friendly, so we felt at ease. The food was delicious, and both the room and bath were really clean. Truly a wonderful inn, and I’d definitely stay here again.

It’s just a short walk to Yuhigaura Beach, and although the inn is small, the service and meals are excellent. Everyone was gentle, kind, and easy to talk with. Dinner came to our room, with a sashimi platter, crab hotpot, grilled abalone, and grilled crab. It was delicious and impressive. The men’s and women’s hot spring baths were both satisfying, and there are private baths as well. If crab is what you’re after, I think Ryokan Kato is a great choice.
