We had a lovely balcony and a spacious, attractive room with a kitchen. The neighborhood was peaceful, and being so close to Kyoto Station made getting around very convenient. Staff were kind and helpful. I’d add lotion to the amenities and a separate bedside light for each bed, but I’d still highly recommend staying here.

I loved how clean everything felt, even the floors and shower, which isn’t always the case for me at hotels. The place is new, modern, and the rooms are roomy, with a nice mix of traditional and contemporary design. It’s a small boutique hotel south of Kyoto Station, under a 10-minute walk away, in the quieter area I preferred. Reception was really pleasant, and they offered free coffee in the morning and bottled water. I’d happily return and recommend it.

The frosted windows meant there was no view outside, which I could’ve done without. Still, 22 Pieces was a clean, modern place, about five minutes on foot from Kyoto Station, and it suited our family of four for a one-night holiday stay. It was pricey, about $500 Australian for the night, but finding one room for four in Japan can be difficult without booking two rooms. The bathroom was the highlight, luxurious, spotless, and clearly made to feel relaxing. The kids loved having a long hot bath each. Service was fantastic too. The friendly front desk had all sorts of things to borrow, rent, use, or buy, from fondue sets and rice cookers to craft beer and tea bags. It’s not near the main tourist sights, though the station nearby makes it fairly easy to get around.

We both like places that are quiet but still close to everything, and this worked perfectly for us. Really nothing to complain about. Thanks again to all of you, and we’ll see you next year.
