The in-room baths were especially great, and both the facilities and rooms were very good. This is a traditional onsen, but what really stood out was the service. Everyone was helpful, polite and kind, and they even taught us some japanese! Highly recommended.

The room was beautiful, but the listing gave me the wrong impression about what was included. I booked expecting dinner and breakfast, then learned at check-in that neither was part of the room price. There hadn't been an option to add the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast during booking, which is why I assumed they were included. The advertised Mountain View was misleading too. There was no mountain view, just rocks behind a bamboo partition. I'm extremely dissatisfied and will stay elsewhere. The night before, I'd stayed at Kyoto Umekoji Kadensho and had a much more pleasant experience. Don't waste your time or money here.

The staff paid attention to the small things during our stay. I'd entered my kids' ages when booking, and the room was set up for them, including a toddler chair without a backrest, yukatas that fit, and toddler-sized toiletries. Even breakfast was prepared to suit them. They were also very attentive and helpful overall. The nearest train station is about a 10-minute walk away. The monkey park is next door, and both the bamboo forest and kimono forest are less than a 15-minute walk. There are local sweets nearby, including warabi mochi.

Such a peaceful place, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I stayed here with my husband and our 1-year-old, and it was a delight from start to finish. They speak English, too, and it's definitely very baby-friendly. We'd love to come back.
