Cross Hotel Kyoto

We'd book this place again if we come back to Kyoto and it's available. The breakfast was delicious, and I think it's worth adding when you book. Rooms are roomy, the whole property is clean, and the staff were lovely. The location is fantastic too. It's one of my favorite hotels.

The room had plenty of space, a nice bathroom, and was clean. We also got free water, an air humidifier, bath salt, and comfortable pajamas. The quiet air conditioner was fine to leave on while sleeping. Those details made this stand out from the other hotels we stayed at. Breakfast had lots to choose from, including traditional Japanese dishes alongside Western options. The staff were friendly and attentive, especially at the buffet, where they promptly topped up food and cleaned. They could also arrange luggage transfer without trouble. It's affordable and feels like it deserves at least four stars. The location is great, with subway stations, shopping, and plenty to explore on foot. Highly recommend it for a Kyoto visit.

The staff were friendly, the rooms larger than at many other hotels, and the modern place felt comfortable. It's right in the middle of Kyoto, close to food, shops, and transport, and the price is very competitive for what you get. A few little things bothered me. The AC wouldn't go below 20°C, which still felt too warm at night, even in winter. The hot breakfast items were cold despite sitting on heated plates set to 50°C. Maybe a lid or a higher setting would help. There were no face cloths or soap by our bathroom hand basin. I'd still recommend it and would stay again without hesitation.

The Cross is an easy walk from the river, Gion district, and other fun spots, and the train station is nearby for trips farther out. The location was perfect for our honeymoon in Japan, and we were sad to leave after five nights. The staff welcomed us warmly and even left a sweet treat and a card congratulating us on our marriage. They really went above and beyond. Our room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was delicious each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't recommend The Cross enough.
