FUJITAYA Kyoto - Hostel

There’s a great social feel here if you want it. The shared kitchen and big table make it easy to talk and swap stories with travelers from all sorts of backgrounds, while you can still retreat to your own room for quiet. It felt clean and organized, like a home away from home, and the place has a really good energy. ❤️ It’s a Japanese-style house with lots of rooms upstairs. The street is too narrow for most taxis, so use Google Maps to walk to the front door, which sits back from the small street, and look for the red signs. Inside, take off your shoes and find your name on the whiteboard to serve yourself. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and helpful. Shared restrooms had plenty of toilets and showers, so I never had to wait. Laundry is available for a small fee.

Everything was clean, and the staff were kind and attentive. We had spacious rooms and pretty comfortable beds, with tatami flooring that made the stay feel distinctly Japanese. The location was convenient too, about a 10-minute walk from the JR station and two stops from Kyoto Station. We loved staying here and would come back if we return to Kyoto.

We met new friends here, but the place was still quiet in the evenings, just the balance we wanted. The kitchen was clean and simple to use, and the staff were kind and really helpful. There are plenty of train stations and bus stops nearby. We loved our stay at Fujitaya and would recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto.

Our room was quiet, convenient, and had lots of space. It felt like great value for the price, and we really enjoyed chatting with our host during our stay at Fujitaya. We had a lovely time and hope to see you again! 🙏
