This was the most difficult stay of our three-week Japan tour. It was hard to identify the place, and nobody picked up the phone. The staircase has no railings, which made carrying luggage difficult, and my 80-year-old mother had a very hard time going up and down. Compared with our other stays in Japan, it was also relatively less clean.

The host who owns this place is the sweetest! It’s comfortable for a Kyoto vacation and convenient for the train station. Highly recommended.

The host was really nice and sweet. We booked through airbnb, and this is a highly recommended place to stay in Kyoto, close to both the train station and bus station.

I stayed for 16 days, and the experience was extremely disappointing. First, the mailbox was broken. I have photos as proof. I couldn’t get my key out, and after calling the Kyoto Police Station for help, I waited two hours for a staff member to come and retrieve it. The toilet flushing system was broken too, and I lost an entire day of my trip waiting for a repairman. The water heater was also broken. For two days, I had to pay extra to shower in the shared bathroom while a repairman came to replace it. The table that was meant for dining had three trash cans on it, unlike the photo shown when I booked. The stove was very dirty and hadn’t been properly cleaned. I have photos of that as well. The service wasn’t as advertised. The staff couldn’t speak English at all, and their attitude was awful. I’ve completely lost faith in Hotels.com and will never book a hotel through Hotels.com again.
