The neighborhood has a lovely atmosphere, especially with the tea houses around, and the location is close to restaurants, shops, and temples. Our room was large and fairly quiet. We did have a day when there was no hot water and we couldn't shower, but the owners fixed it that same day. I'd recommend it if you want to be near the action in Gion.

It's a very affordable place, and the little fridge in our room came in handy. The toilet was in a hallway room while the shower was attached to ours, which felt a bit unusual to us but wasn't a problem. We were on the first floor and could hear every step upstairs, including kids running around and their parents yelling. Fortunately, that family left after our first night, and then the noise stopped being an issue.

I enjoyed my stay and would probably book here again if I'm back in the Kyoto area. The guesthouse was very clean, with all amenities available to use. The location was fantastic, close to the city and very near the train station.

The second-floor room was large and affordable. It had a microwave and fridge, which made midnight snacks convenient.

The staff spoke English and were helpful and courteous. I liked the traditional Japanese sleeping arrangements and would happily come back.
