Guest House One More Heart at Fushimi Inari 4

The apartment itself was excellent, clean and comfortable, and had all the facilities we needed. It was self-service, so guests aren’t really meant to interact with staff, though the few I saw seemed nice. The price was very good for the room quality and location, and I’d recommend it, but bring earplugs and a sleep mask. On paper, the southeast Kyoto location is great for getting around, close to both JR and local train lines for Kyoto, Nara, Uji, and elsewhere. Fushimi Inari is a beautiful place to visit. The downside is how overwhelmingly busy the area gets during the day in any season, which makes carrying bags between the apartment and station difficult. The bed was comfortable, but sleep could be a problem. The walls are thin, so noisy neighbors are easy to hear. The fridge is noisy too, and it keeps going all night. Small lights on some electronics, perhaps the TV, internet, or other devices, glow or flicker in the room through the night. They’ve also chosen to use the stairs for storage, which feels like a fire risk.

We stayed in October 2023, and the hotel was the closest one to Fushimi Inari, with a train station just a 5-minute walk away. Our room was nice, and having a washing machine was very useful. The service was excellent. The friendly receptionist took our luggage to the room and gave us detergent. He speaks Spanish very well, so Spanish speakers should feel welcome too. This guest house is right by Fushimi Inari, which is amazing for sightseeing. You step outside and you’re there. The room has a stove, microwave, and washing machine, a real plus for a longer stay. The bedroom beds were too small, though. I think it was a semi-double, and it felt too short 🙈

The owner is kind, helpful, and fluent in English. The rooms are quiet and well insulated, despite being fairly central to the main tourist spots. Each one has a washing machine and a washroom drying system. They’re all equipped with what you need if you want to cook your own food and come and go as you please.
