Fauchon Hotel Kyoto

I felt right at home here. The staff were kind, welcoming and caring, and they responded to every request. The boutique hotel has great amenities and sits right in the middle of Gion. Such a hidden gem, I enjoyed my stay so much.

I’d gladly stay here again. My wife came down with a minor infection, and Japan has some restrictions on which medicines you can bring into the country. The Hotel Management connected her with a doctor in Tokyo who was a resident at a hospital. After a thorough consultation, the doctor sent a prescription, and the hotel handled the pharmacy, picked it up and delivered it. They were pleasant, thoughtful and more than reasonable throughout. Really nice people. The service was at the forefront, as you’d expect in Japan. Our rooms were immaculate and spacious, with a cocktail bar and dining done to our specs. Breakfast was hearty and had plenty of western options. We went out for lunch and dinner, though I imagine the dining is favorable. There’s also a good first-floor cafe serving coffee, espresso, cappuccino, lattes and matcha lattes, plus wine, croque-monsieur and light bites for a quicker, lighter meal. At first I wasn’t sure we were close enough to Gion, but after walking around I saw the location’s appeal. It sits between super touristy Gion and a Japanese residential area with authentic wares and antiques. In the other direction there are nice shops, including a world-renowned tea shop and clothing boutiques.

After a few days in Tokyo and Hakone, we arrived in Kyoto and the Fauchon Hotel was just what we needed. It’s beautiful and luxurious, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more accommodating. Daisuke gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and helped with other things too. We could walk to many of the places on our itinerary from the hotel. A true five-star stay.

The breakfast team did an amazing job and made the stay feel extra special. Everyone on staff was professional and attentive. One small thing, the black step in the beautiful lobby was hard to see and I tripped over it. Thanks to the team for sending our luggage on to the next hotel.
