Hearton Hotel Kyoto

Anisa really helped us get the luggage forwarding sorted out. There had been an issue with the phone number for our hotel in Asakusa, and an earlier staff member wasn't sure how to help. Anisa ran into the same problem but kept trying until she found a solution. Later that evening she helped put the required labels on our bags and stored them overnight so they could be sent to our next hotel. There's a QR code at reception for forwarding luggage. The room was on the small side, as expected, but we could fit two large suitcases and two cabin bags and still move around. The bathroom was also a bit small, though the bathtub was a nice way to relax after exploring. Across from the hotel, 7-11 is about two minutes away for water, snacks, or topping up an Icoca or Suica card. Gion is around a 20-minute walk. We found it interesting and different. You can take photos of Geishas if you respect their space and don't interrupt their day. Rikos Kimonos is a place to rent a kimono; you choose the color and design, and women can add makeup and hair styling for an extra fee. Check-in was quick: we signed the register and received room keycards. The hotel and neighborhood information was easy to follow. There are washers and dryers on floors 3, 5, 7, and 9, along with drink vending machines and a microwave. There isn't complimentary water, as the hotel is trying to be eco-minded, and the microwave is handy for heating food bought outside. Breakfast is in the dining room on level 1 near reception, and you need to bring your ticket each morning. It's a la carte, with a Japanese-style breakfast option on level 2. From Tokyo, we took a Shinkansen to Kyoto station, then a local train to Karasuma-Oike station, followed by a five-minute walk. We had lots of luggage, so we booked Kens Taxi Osaka through Klook a month ahead. They may be busy, and sent the car or van details and pickup time by email the day before. Staff were willing to help, and the location is good. I'd recommend staying a few days to explore the local area.
