Henn na Hotel Kyoto Hachijoguchi Station

We only stayed one night and wished we had booked longer. The dinosaurs are hilarious, and our regular double room was much better than I expected for the price. It was spacious, with a separate toilet and shower room, plus another sink and mirror area. There was plenty of bedroom space, along with a desk and TV. Kyoto Station and the main shops were close by. They even have a luggage vacuum sealer in the lobby. We’d definitely stay here again if we return to Kyoto.

The location is really convenient, about a three-minute walk from Kyoto Station, with department stores, restaurants, and convenience stores within a couple of minutes. Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and a bathtub I loved. The dinosaurs at reception were cool, and my family took lots of pictures. There isn’t always someone at the desk, but you can ring the service bell to find a staff member. Breakfast comes from the bistro next door. It’s simple but tasty, especially the vegetables and soup. I’d happily stay here again.

The room was tidy, spacious, and clean, just a five-minute walk from Kyoto Station. Check-in was smooth and fully automatic, handled by cute dinosaurs in Halloween costumes that greeted you in all sorts of languages. Remember to grab the amenities in the lobby. The bed was a little too hard for us, so that’s the one thing we didn’t like. Good value overall.

The room itself was okay, but it had a stale smell, and the toilet was worse. There was a constant sewage odor throughout our stay whenever the lid was open. The hotel also overcharged me for accommodation tax. I showed the booking and receipt with the room price, but the staff insisted I’d paid more. The tax came to almost twice what it should have been, and I found the staff dishonest. I asked for an email address because I had to leave after they’d spent 45 minutes essentially doing nothing. She told me to look on the website. When I said I couldn’t find it there, it took another 20 minutes for her to find the address she said was clearly posted.
