Hiyori Residence Kyoto Kamogawa

The reception team were genuinely helpful, especially a lady there and Jef. I’d left something precious at a previous hotel, and Jef kindly called to ask about it and arranged to have it sent on to my next hotel. I’m so grateful, truly. We stayed two nights with breakfast included. It was a simple, fairly Western-style breakfast. Our room was clean and roomy, with a small kitchenette and washing machine. The location also made it easy to find dinner and places to visit.

We loved staying here. From the top floor we had a west-facing balcony over the river, plus a “secret” balcony on the north side. The room was roomy and clean, with everything we needed; the beds were comfortable and fresh towels came daily. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served every day, with cereal, yogurt and granola, salad, pancakes, croissants, eggs, and sausage. The location worked perfectly for us, within walking distance of Higashiyama Ward, temples, and museums. The local train was a few blocks away, and Kyoto Station was about a 30-minute walk. Can't say enough good things about our stay!

We stayed at Mimaru I'm Kyoto last time and liked it, but Hiyori is more convenient and better value for us. There’s in-room laundry, breakfast, coffee, juice and pop at no charge, plus free bike rentals. Kamo river is a short walk away. We’ll definitely book this again next year.

During our two weeks in Japan, this was the best hotel we stayed at. The front desk staff were lovely and welcoming. It’s a small hotel beside Kamo river, on the quieter side of Kyoto, and breakfast is included. The selection is small, but good enough to get the day started. Our family room had plenty of space for two adults and two teenagers. If you want to be among locals and away from crowds, this is a good fit.
