Hotel Alfa Kyoto - Adults Only

The carpet was dirty, with lots of crumbs and even dead skin from a toe. The hot water machine wasn’t working, so we couldn’t make tea or coffee. On the plus side, the room was pretty, parking was free, and the TV was massive. Breakfast, which was a croissant with potato salad and shredded cabbage, was tasty, as was dinner, curry and rice with fried octopus. They also let us eat dinner late because we’d arrived late, which was nice.

Fantastic staff, cheerful and joyous, professional and efficient, with great customer service and English speakers. Arigato from this American woman! I’m a big fan and highly recommend this spot for solo travelers and couples in Kyoto. The hotel is in an industrial area without major views, but you won’t need one with rooms this well equipped. Mine had a great massage chair, big hot tub, very hot water, huge TV, hot and cold water cooler, good AC, air filter and fan, plus soft, comfy duvet and comforter. There was also a mini fridge and microwave. The complimentary Japanese continental breakfast was delicious and brought with room service. Great toiletries and phenomenal PJs and robe, too. It’s a 25 minute drive from Kyoto Station, Aeon mall, cinema, restaurants and cafes, or Arishiyama Monkey Park.

The area feels like the middle of nowhere, so getting here takes some effort, but I was very happy with the stay. The price included free dinner, breakfast, and a drink. Staff were super nice, and the rooms were clean and spacious. A great place for traveling couples.

The room was set up more like an apartment than a hotel room.
