The staff were amazing, and we really enjoyed breakfast. There’s also a lounge where you can bring your own food and drinks, open until midnight. The onsen was fabulous. Our room was small but practical, very clean, and comfortable. Getting around was easy, with a bus stop right outside, 7/11 and Family Mart close by, and Gion just a short walk away.
The staff made a great impression. We arrived a few hours before check-in and our room wasn’t ready, so they stored our bags while we explored. When we came back, they’d already taken all the guests’ luggage, including ours, up to the rooms. There’s also a free guest lounge on the first floor with drinks during happy hour, and pajamas are provided downstairs. On the second floor, guests can use separate men’s and women’s public baths for free. Staff confirmed tattoos are allowed. That floor also has a microwave, coin laundry, vending machines, and a water dispenser. The rooms are large by Japanese standards, with nicely renovated bathrooms. The layout makes good use of the space, including suitcase storage beneath the bed and a small counter for eating in the room. The location is hard to beat for convenience. A 7-Eleven is basically next door, with a grocery store a few minutes away. It’s about a ten-minute walk to Goto subway station and Kyoto Kawaramachi subway station, which gets you toward Osaka. Nishiki Market, restaurants, food spots, and family restaurant chains are nearby too. There’s a bus stop close by for the Philosopher's Path. For the value, I’d highly recommend staying here and would gladly return to Kyoto and stay again.
The bathroom was my favorite part, it felt roomy and was really nice. The room itself was bigger than I expected, and the staff were kind at the front desk, greeting me and helping out. I also appreciated that they kept my passport safe after I accidentally left it behind at checkout. The location worked well for me, near Kyoto Station as well as other stations and bus stops. A nice stay.
I spent four nights at Amanek Hotel Kawaramachi. The room was quite small, with barely any room for luggage, though the location was convenient, close to the subway and bus station, with restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. SIN and PHYO were especially supportive and lovely. Thanks to both of them for all their help.
Breakfast was a nice part of our stay. My wife and I paid for the morning service, served from 7 to 10, with seating by 9:30. The menu changed a little each day, which I liked. There were Western options like scrambled eggs and sausages, plus Japanese dishes such as fish, rice, and miso, along with fruit, yogurt, juices, and more. The food was good, and both the breakfast crew and front desk staff were warm and welcoming. We also enjoyed the onsen. It wasn’t as fancy as places like the Dormy Inn, but it was still relaxing and had useful extras like razors, q-tips, and toothbrushes. A 7-Eleven is a two-minute walk away, there are several restaurants nearby, and Kyoto train station isn’t far. There’s a bus stop by the convenience store, plus a Golds Gym about a 20-minute walk away. I didn’t mind the walk, it gave me a chance to see more of Kyoto. We stayed four nights during a month-long Japan tour. The room was comfortable, and I was glad there was a king-size bed option since I’m 6 foot 3 and 215 pounds. The shower was roomy enough for two and had a rain shower head. The downside was that the big bed left very little space to move around. That’s often part of staying in Japan, where buildings can be tight on space, so we worked around it. It’s a welcoming place to come back to after a day out. Thanks for giving us a good place to rest in Kyoto.
