Hotel Cuna Kyoto (Adult Only)

We ended up searching for a hotel during cherry blossom season, when we couldn't find one in the city. Staying here turned out to be a lovely surprise. The staff, room, and everything else were good, and checkout was much smoother than at all the other hotels we'd stayed in. Thanks for hosting us.

Hotel Cuna is a bit far from the city centre, but it made a perfect couple's getaway. We had two great nights there. The room was huge, with a private hall where staff left breakfast, so we could keep our privacy. The toilets are also in the hall for the same reason. Inside the room, there was a nice attention to detail: different lighting settings, music, TV, a sofa, and small kitchen equipment. It had a king-size bed with smooth sheets and some nice extras for couples. The bathroom was also very large, with a hot tub and shower, plus towels and robes. Colorful bath salts were available for free in the floor hall.

You pay at the machine in your room, and it only takes cash. It accepts old banknotes only. If you have new ones, call the front desk after you enter and they can exchange them for you.

I booked through Booking.com, where the taxes were included. But at checkout I still had to pay 800 yen in tax. The service was terrible and the attendant was rude. You're locked in the room, and to get out you have to keep calling for someone to open the door. The place smelled of cigarette smoke.
