Check-in and checkout were both quick and easy with the self-service system, and breakfast was included, enjoyable, and well prepared. The hotel sits near two subway stations, and JR Kyoto Station is a pleasant 20-minute walk away. It’s convenient for getting to Kyoto’s nightlife and major sights. My first stay at this Toyoko Inn left me very impressed and comfortable.

I’ve stayed at four different Toyokos, and this one is my favorite so far. The staff are engaged, helpful, and friendly. Breakfast is really fun, and I liked the location. It can be a 15-20 minute walk to the shopping district, which might feel far to some people, but there are eateries, bars, and other fun things along every street.

Kyoto’s over-tourism problem is massive, and this hotel gave me a welcome break from the madness outside during my week-long stay. Great location, great Wi-Fi, and amazing staff. Toyoko Inns are pretty similar, but the team here goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome.

The location is good, the staff are really friendly, the rooms are a decent size, and the place is very clean. But the downsides far outweighed those positives for me. Noise came through from above, beside, and below, and there’s only one elevator for the 12-floor building, so waits could take a while. The temperature stayed at 17C, and I couldn’t adjust the heater settings. The bed felt like concrete. I woke up so sore that I couldn’t finish my stay and had to move to another hotel.

The employees were very polite, and the rooms were spotless, as in the other two Toyoko Inns I’ve stayed at. Japanese-style breakfast is included. It’s easy to get to subway and bus lines.
