Hotel Glad One Kyoto Shichijo by M’s

The room had good cleanliness and ambience, and the service was good too. But the bed was absolutely terrible, easily the worst I’ve slept on in a hotel. You could feel the metal springs right through the mattress, with no support, and it gave me back pain every night. We stayed for three nights and didn’t get one proper night of sleep. Every morning we woke up sore, tired, and frustrated. It’s shocking that a hotel would leave mattresses in this condition for guests. A good hotel service means little if you can’t sleep, and it’s such a pity because this could’ve been a good stay. The bed completely ruined it.

The room had plenty of space, especially by Japanese hotel standards, and the place was clean and pleasant. The bed, though, was so hard I could feel every spring and couldn’t sleep. Getting around was the other drawback: it’s in a very quiet neighborhood, and Google Maps kept sending us on walks of at least 30 minutes to Kyoto’s famous spots. Some people may find it too tucked away. Apart from that, we had a rather pleasant stay.

The location is unbeatable, and the staff were attentive and provided outstanding service. Facilities were clean, spacious, and comfortable. I’d highly recommend the hotel. One suggestion: improve the Wi-Fi, since each guest or room can currently use it on just one device.

Subway and bus stops are a 5-10 minute walk away, and the neighborhood is quiet. The hotel looked very new, with nice big beds. The shower was quite small, though that seems normal here.
