MyStays Kyoto Shijo Hotel

We stayed for 4 nights on our Japan vacation. The hotel is in a fairly central part of the city, about a 25-minute walk from Pontocho. Our room on the ninth floor was quite small but had everything we needed. The staff were welcoming and helped arrange to send our luggage to Tokyo.

The room was very spacious and had everything we needed, and we really appreciated the coffee service. Staff were super nice and accommodating, and we felt well looked after throughout. There’s a supermarket right next door, open late, that we ended up visiting often during our time in Kyoto. Local train lines are an easy walk away, and Kyoto station is around a 30-minute walk, so the Shinkansen is accessible too. Really good, professional service.

The neighborhood is nice, with restaurants and shops nearby, and the bus stop is within walking distance. Staff at the 2F front desk were very helpful. On 1F there’s a small breakfast area with a well-prepared buffet, though groups are often there and sometimes you have to wait for a table. It would help to schedule groups into time slots. The room was a little larger than average, and everything else was present and fine. Definitely recommended.

There are good places to eat nearby, and bus stops close to the hotel make it easy to reach Kyoto sights. It’s right in the centre of things and offers what you need on a budget, including coin laundry. I’d recommend staying here.
