Hotel Vista Premio Kyoto Kawaramachi St.

We’d had a really bad experience at another hotel, so this stay was a complete turnaround and surpassed what we expected. The room was spotless and spacious, the largest we had in Japan. There was even enough room to get in and out of bed comfortably from either side. The bathroom was large, practical, and had all the necessary amenities. The central location is hard to beat. It’s next to Uniqlo, close to restaurants, shops, and the main attractions, and there’s a bus stop right on the corner. Despite being so central, it was quiet inside and we slept well. Staff were kind and helpful throughout, and check-in and checkout were smooth. Checkout is at 11:00, an extra hour compared with many hotels. They can store your luggage and lend umbrellas when it rains, which we appreciated. The breakfast buffet had a good variety too. Clean, comfortable, well located, and well managed. I’d stay again without hesitation.

I loved this place. It’s right in the center of Kyoto City, with Kawaramachi, Shijo, and all the entertainment just outside. It felt very safe for women traveling alone. The bedrooms are large and Western-style, with decor that still has a traditional Kyoto luxury feel. Good value at a reasonable price.

The room was more spacious than at other places we stayed in Japan, and the location was a dream. Everything was close by, including bus stops, trains, and halal restaurants, which made getting around easy. Breakfast was the one downside. I wish there’d been more vegetarian-friendly choices and that the food had been warmer in the morning.

The location couldn’t be more central. Shops are right outside, buses are a five-minute walk away, and there’s a really good ramen place by the front entrance. The staff were lovely and spoke great English, and they helped us book dinner, which is a must in Kyoto. We stayed four nights in a standard twin room; there was enough room for two people and big suitcases. The room felt as old as it looked, though, and the spring mattresses had pillow-top covers, with feather pillows and a duvet. The hotel could use a major overhaul.
