Ishibekoji MUAN

I loved walking down this little alley in Kyoto. Every time, it made me happy. The hotel feels romantic, small, and sweet, with a personal ryokan atmosphere and luxury amenities. Our room was spacious and lovely, and having a private onsen was such a treat. It’s centrally located and easy to walk to important sites. I’m so happy we stayed here and sad to leave. It felt as nice as a Four Seasons, but even better for its intimate feel. I’ll stay again.

We loved the quiet of the old streets early in the morning, before the crowds, and coming back to relax in the room afterward. The futons were really comfortable, and the bathroom was a highlight, especially the bath that stayed hot for hours. The ryokan exceeded what we’d hoped for, with a fantastic room, a perfect location, and staff who were incredibly friendly and always ready to help or answer questions.

Three weeks after getting home, memories of our Japan trip still come to mind every day, and Ishibekoji MUAN is one of the highlights. The breakfast was delicious and filling, and they accommodated our food restrictions. Our spacious room was peaceful, and the bathroom was lovely, with a wooden tub beside the shower. Most of all, the staff’s warmth and care with the details made this a stay we’ll carry with us. A friend had suggested trying a Kyoto ryokan, and now I see why. Thank you, Shin and Sae!

After arriving from Tokyo on the Shinkansen for just one night, from 01Dec to 02 Dec2025, we had a memorable time at Ishibekoji MUAN. Lee was outstanding and helped us settle into a very comfortable ryokan. After our evening and day in Kyoto, Shin from the front office saw us off just as warmly. She spent some time with us at the bar/lounge, swapping stories about our travels and family heritage. We highly recommend staying here in Kyoto. Thank you, Lee and Shin.
