The neighborhood was quiet, clean, and felt safe, with lots of interesting areas nearby and subway stops for places farther away. The lodging itself was charming and really convenient, with thoughtful amenities and plenty of room for four. Everything was clean and relaxing, and the beds were unbelievably comfortable, even the floor beds. The fluffy comforters were a favorite. The host was kind and helpful. When I accidentally left my phone in a cab, she communicated with the cab company far better than I could and got it back to me quickly. Our time in Kyoto was amazing. I’d recommend staying here, and although I don’t know when I’ll make it back to Japan, I hope I can stay here again.

The innkeepers were genuinely kind, and I can see this becoming our usual place whenever we visit Kyoto. We spent three days here as a couple. It’s near Higashiyama Station but tucked away from the noisier spots, so it was peaceful. The outside looks old, though the inside was clean. Heian Shrine, Yasaka Shrine, and Awata Shrine are all an easy walk away.

Good value for the size and facilities, and it was inexpensive. This is a clean, well-kept old two-story house with a retro look, renovated with new plumbing and other facilities. I’d come back.
