Kyoto Hana Hostel

Our room was spacious and clean, with air-conditioning and a window for natural light. We slept on a futon on the tatami floor, and the quiet hours from around 10pm made for a peaceful stay. The ensuite room was on the third floor, and since there's no lift, Emiko and Tetsu kindly helped us carry our luggage up and down. I was there with a friend in October this year. We'd booked four months ahead and had only heard about the place through reviews. I was impressed by how close it was to public transport, conbini, shops, and restaurants, and the area felt safe. Emiko and Tetsu were helpful, kind, and friendly. I recommend it.

I really appreciated the social atmosphere here, which is rare in Japan. The hostel was clean and nice, and the staff were amazing, fun to chat with, and full of offbeat suggestions for autumn leaves viewing. It's an easy 5-7 minute walk from Kyoto station, with a subway connecting the whole stretch if it rains. There's also a bus stop a minute away, with buses to all the main sightseeing spots, and plenty of places to eat nearby.

The tatami room was spotless, clean, and comfortable, and I didn't regret staying in it. There are common areas and a shared kitchen, and the staff are friendly and kind. It's an easy walk from Kyoto station and simple to find. Note that even if you've paid through an app, accommodation tax is due in cash, so come prepared. There's no elevator, so be ready to carry any huge baggage up the stairs.

The staff were really nice and helpful. There's a small shared lounge, and the location is great. Overall, a great stay.
