Kyoto Plaza Hotel Kintetsu Jujo

It was easy to get around, with a bus stop and train station within walking distance, and Kyoto main station just two stops away. The rooms and hotel felt modern and were very clean. Staff were polite and helpful. The public bath was clean, well maintained, and relaxing, just what I needed after a busy day in Kyoto’s tourist-filled streets.

Breakfast was very good, and there’s a nice little one-person restaurant next to the hotel. We only managed to try it on our last day, since each time we got to Kyoto station we were so hungry we had to eat there instead of waiting until we returned to the hotel. The hotel is rather far from Kyoto’s main station and the bus stops, about a 20-30 minute walk. A small station is five minutes away on foot, and the ride to the main station costs 180 yen.

The beds were hard as a rock. When we asked about the room amenities, the front desk person was rude, didn’t look at us, and kept scrolling through his phone. There’s not much nearby besides ramen restaurants, though they are good. It’s an okay, decent three-star place.

The staff were kind, especially the woman who kept our bags on the last day and chatted with us while we went out. We also appreciated having a public bath to relax in after long sightseeing days and train rides. Our room was basic, but one of the more spacious ones we had on the trip. The shower controls took a little figuring out since they were part of the bathroom faucet. Breakfast was simple, but it was nice to have a bite before heading out, and the 7-11 next door had more food if we wanted it.
