Nachiya Guest House was a warm, comfortable place to stay, with clean, well-kept rooms and an authentic Japanese feel. The traditional style gave it a cozy, home-away-from-home atmosphere. Our host was incredibly kind and helpful, sharing local tips and making sure we were comfortable the whole time. That local hospitality made our time in Kyoto feel even more special.

The host Mamoru-san was thoughtful and kind, answered all our questions, and came by for both check-in and check-out to make sure everything went smoothly. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and will definitely return next time we're in Kyoto. Nachiya is spacious, clean, and beautifully styled, with traditional Japanese charm. It's in a quiet area, yet there are lots of good restaurants, supermarkets, and shops nearby if you want to use the lovely kitchen and dining room. It can seem far from the city center, but buses make getting into town easy. The local temples are hidden gems, much quieter than the touristy ones in town.

Our family of four stayed for two nights. The house was amazing and well worth the price, and the host gave us helpful recommendations for local food and sights. Ten out of ten, we'd stay again without hesitation.

We had a wonderful four nights at Nachiya, and it was lovely to have so much room after staying in small hotel rooms elsewhere. The location is great: Kinkaku-ji is within walking distance, Kazariya is just around the corner for grilled mochi with white miso sauce, and buses and the metro are easy to reach. The house has a full kitchen, comfortable beds, lots of amenities, and beautiful furnishings. Mamoru-san is a kind, helpful host who really cares about his guests. He answered our questions, shared information and recommendations, and forwarded our luggage when we left. Highly recommended.

Mamoru-san was incredibly considerate. He replied quickly to my messages and took plenty of time to show us around the house. The quiet neighborhood is near major sights such as the kinkaku-ji. Higashiyama is farther away, but taxis are reasonably priced, or you can catch a nearby bus. The care put into every detail comes close to perfection, while the house remains comfortable and convenient. It captures Japanese aesthetics beautifully. The futons in the traditional bedroom offer more support than those in most ryokans, and the Western bedroom should suit even sensitive backs. If you're reading this, don't hesitate to book. There's nothing else like it.
