The check-in office is near Kyoto Station, separate from the hotel, and the staff there were attentive and genuinely considerate. We stayed as a family of four with our children, aged 12 and 8, and RESI STAY Kyo Ryuvilux Nijo suited us perfectly. Getting around was easy from this central spot: two main bus routes were close by, and a train station was a short walk away. Even so, the hotel felt tucked away from traffic and crowds, a peaceful place to come back to after sightseeing. Our room was very clean and seemed almost new. It had two large double beds and a sofa, with a lovely Sagano bamboo forest theme in pale greens, white, and neutral colors. The bathroom was especially nice, with a separate sink and mirror area, plus a wet room with a shower and deep tub. There was also a mid-size fridge, kettle, microwave, and a small kitchenette. The washer-dryer came in handy during our second week in Japan. I used ChatGPT to help with the Japanese controls, and it got my clothes and the kids’ laundry washed and dried in one go. Thanks to the team for a great stay.

The neighborhood was a real plus, with young families around, a supermarket and konbinis nearby, and easy access to shops, the River, and several train lines. The place itself was modern, but the layout wasn’t great, and I wouldn’t stay again. We had a premium tatami room for four, with one double bed, a sofa bed, and two futons. There wasn’t much space for luggage. The duvets were fluffy, but every pillow smelled musty and sweaty, which was pretty gross. The kitchen was in a tiny room off to the side, near the two separate toilet rooms. The bathroom had big double sinks, a washing machine, and a shower. The shower ventilation also had a drying mode that dried clothes in a few hours, which was amazing. The long list of rules made me feel unwelcome: no loud talking in the hall, no bicycles parked inside or outside, don’t lose the key cards, don’t open the window more than 10 cm, don’t use the balcony, and don’t leave luggage as trash. The lobby, elevator, and hallways weren’t air conditioned either, which added to that feeling.

The room was clean and spacious, and the location was great. The drying room is so cool! Just remember, you have to pick up the keys at reception near Kyoto Station.

A good choice for staying in Kyoto. We used two different apartments. One had a larger layout, with a tatami room, low table, and TV that felt like a dining area, though there were no chairs, just cushions to sit on. The other was similar but smaller, without that extra room, and its kitchen was part of the main room. The washer was great, and the drying feature in the shower was really cool.

The room was okay, but it didn’t cool down enough for me in the summer. Otherwise, it was a good place to stay. The reception staff were quite helpful at check-in, and the accommodation was in a peaceful, livable area, though the cicadas could get annoying.
