Rhino Hotel Kyoto

There’s a subway station close by, which made getting around Kyoto easy. The hotel was good, and having a 7-Eleven on the first floor made it simple to pick up water or other basics.

The spa closes at 9pm, so it can be awkward to fit in after a day out sightseeing. The gym and pool also charge each time you use them. Still, the price wasn’t too bad, and they restocked the free water and bathroom items every day, including disposable brushes, razors and toothbrushes, not just towels. There’s a 7-Eleven downstairs for grabbing food at any time. I’d book here again.

The staff were welcoming and courteous, and the Japanese breakfast was light and healthy, with portions that worked well before a day of travelling. We ate at the hotel restaurant mainly because it was convenient while staying there. You can have the meal charged to your room, which also saves time.

We felt safe walking around at night, and the hotel is within walking distance of shops and restaurants in a trendy part of Kyoto. There are also several restaurants attached to the hotel and a handy 7-Eleven. We used the onsite garage, which was convenient, and the staff throughout, from reception and housekeeping to the garage attendants, were professional, friendly and courteous. The modern hotel was clean, with comfortable, well-equipped rooms, including toothbrushes, proper products and robes. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and our two-night stay.
