Rinn Kujofujinoki WEST

The house is a traditional Japanese-style home over two floors, with plenty of space, a clean room and two toilets. There were lots of supplies available, and the guesthouse thoughtfully drove our luggage over to the accommodation, which helped since the reception and the place we stayed were some distance apart. The station is a little far, but still walkable. I’d choose this place again next time.

The room was warm and comfortable, and they provided thick slippers, free coffee and a well-stocked kitchen. It’s a renovated machiya, so the kitchen and bathroom can be chilly in winter. At check-in, I got the key at the reception desk, then rode with a staff member in the free shuttle to the machiya. Even arriving late, at 9:30 PM, went smoothly. They’ll apparently let you wait for your car while you shop at a convenience store if you’re staying at a guesthouse in a convenient spot. Kyoto Station was within walking distance, and the area worked well for an evening stroll or dinner. I’d like to stay at another of their guesthouses if I get the chance. (Added July 5, 2020)

A calm spot away from the bustle, with a nostalgic Japanese-style guesthouse that works well for a family trip.

It was my first overnight stay somewhere like this, and it felt just like being at home.
