Ryokan Kyo-no-yado Kagihei

We loved the quiet spot tucked beside nishiki market, and slept peacefully. The hosts were incredibly kind, and the place was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed plus more. They left cookies and tea in our room, and the lady was so helpful when we needed laundry done. We didn’t try the public onsen, but the bath in our room worked well for us. Thanks for the small gift and for making our stay in Kyoto so lovely. Hontoni arigato gozaimasu. We’ll come back if we return to Kyoto!

Nishiki market is only steps away, and the traditional breakfast served in a private room was perfect. The staff were so nice. Our room was quiet, cozy, and comfortable. There’s a small onsen on the second floor, and tattoos are allowed.

We’d have liked to stay longer at Kagihei. It was a lovely surprise to find such a peaceful, tranquil place right by busy Nishiki market. The hosts made us feel welcome and were very kind. We also enjoyed the delicious traditional Japanese breakfast, served in private rooms in the dining area. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in Kyoto!

The location is right by Kyoto’s shopping center, with easy access to the rest of the city. Nothing about the stay disappointed me, and I’ll miss this place. Our room was spacious compared with other Japanese hotel rooms, and it stayed warm during our February visit. The bed was just right. Breakfast was delicious, with enough food to start the day, and I found myself looking forward to the next morning’s meal. The onsen is small but fits 3-4 people, with four washing spots. The staff were incredible. The host speaks very good English and even helped translate some Japanese words; the lady serving breakfast was warm and polite.
