Mugen is in a great spot, with lots of sights close enough to walk to, and they offer bikes if you'd rather not walk. The rooms are nice, and the host was so sweet to us. She gets very excited about everything, which might feel a little much to some people, but we found it endearing. She also tries hard to help guests with whatever they need and gave us excellent tips for restaurants and sights. We'd definitely recommend it.

Tome's suggestions for Kyoto activities helped us plan our days, and her restaurant recommendations were right on target. The traditional ryokan stay and breakfast were memorable, too. Most of all, Tome made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, like we were visiting an old friend. One of the best parts of our trip.

Tome and her husband made us feel at home in Kyoto. Our rooms were spotless and nicely furnished, and the Japanese breakfast was delicious every time. Tome is so friendly and caring. We loved staying at Tomes ryokan and would definitely recommend it 🥰

Ryokan Mugen was our favourite place to stay in Kyoto. Tome and her lovely family were so hospitable, and the food and sightseeing tips from Tome were fantastic. We had a beautiful experience and couldn't recommend it more. Thank you, Tome, we'll be back!

It felt more like staying with a distant relative than booking accommodation. The whole place has a cosy, homey vibe, and the home-cooked Japanese breakfast was amazing. Tome-san is fluent in English and always happy to chat, especially at the little bar that's open to guests for a few hours each day. The ryokan is away from Kyoto's busy streets and only hosts a handful of groups at a time, which made it feel special. When we arrived, Tome-san greeted us with a big smile and sat down with us to share local cherry blossom spots and restaurants. Her tips were really helpful. We'd definitely come back.
