Satoi Kosetsu Shichijo-Mibu

The wooden tub was such a nice way to warm up after a cold day. The room was clean and rustic, and all the facilities were straightforward to use. We stayed two nights, and the cleaning was done well. Check-in and checkout were easy too, and the place had a nice mix of traditional Japanese style and modern comforts. It did get chilly in the evening, especially by the stairs, so bring a sweater. I’d love to return if I get the chance.

I paid for two nights, and the second night turned into a really awful experience. When I got back at 8:49 pm, the door wouldn’t accept the same password that had worked the night before. I tried it carefully again and again, but after several attempts the electronic lock stopped letting me try. I had internet on my phone but no calling service, so I emailed for help and got no reply, even later. I went to the FamilyMart nearby, where three local people tried to help. One spoke English and called the 24-hour emergency number from the hotel email, but nobody answered. They found another number online, and a Japanese staff member picked up. The three locals came with me to the hotel and tried the steps the staff member gave over the phone, but the door still wouldn’t open. We were told to wait ten minutes for someone to arrive, and they kindly stayed with me. When the staff member finally came, he opened it in about two seconds using a different password. I watched him, and he clearly knew the correct one. I still don’t know why the password changed or who changed it. He kept apologizing but didn’t answer my questions. The locals were incredibly kind, and I can’t imagine how that night would have ended without them. I still haven’t received any explanation from the hotel. It was the most ridiculous and terrible experience I’ve ever had.

The stay was comfortable, and there was a halal breakfast option. Loved it!
