We spent three nights here and had a good time. The host was friendly, the service was great, and the place was clean and quiet. Gion and other attractions were within walking distance, with a Family Mart around the corner for food and a bus stop just outside for farther destinations. Good quality for a very good price.

I liked the streets and buildings around this cozy little guest house, and Kiyomizu-dera, restaurants, and convenience stores are all within walking distance. The subway takes about 15 minutes on foot. The Okashi shop next door has great Japanese pastries, and Benke Udon nearby, which we found from their sketch, served satisfying food. For this unit, the kitchen, restroom, and shower room are shared with other guests; only the bedrooms are private. Everything was clean, quiet, and well organized, and the staff were helpful. There was a language barrier if you don't speak Japanese, but it was manageable. The one thing to consider is the narrow walkway at reception, which could be uncomfortable for someone with claustrophobia. The shower room is roomier than the restrooms.

The staff were really helpful and spoke good English. The place was clean and nice, though a little expensive.

This was our second stay, two years after the first, and the owner still remembered us. The service is superb.
