The host was so kind, checking us in early for our bags and supplying toothbrushes, shampoo, and other basics. He even took a photo of us at the start and gave us a copy later, which was a nice touch. He also did housekeeping daily and brought fresh towels each day. Lawson and 7/11 are nearby and open 24/7. The location made it easy to get between the tourist spots we wanted to visit. The no-shoes rule was enforced strictly, which I liked since the floors felt really clean. The main waiting area was a little messy, though, and the room had a slight odd smell at first that faded quickly once we turned on the AC. There's a washer and dryer in the building. The washer worked well for us, but the dryer at a laundromat two minutes away did a better job. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I arrived around midday without booking, after other hotels had turned me away for not reserving ahead, and the very polite host got me a room right away. The price was amazing, and I'd happily come back next time I'm in Kyoto. Everything was clean, from the room and comfortable bedding to the shower room and toilet. They provided toothbrushes, toothpaste, lots of shower gel and shampoo, plus some nice green tea. There was free Wi-Fi and a pleasant balcony overlooking the city. Thanks so much!

I was there with a school group as a teacher, and the host took great care of us tired teachers. He was patient with the kids and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and breakfast was great, with a different offering each day. The location was handy too, just a few minutes' walk from Kyoto station, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

We stayed six nights as four people and managed, though the sparse furniture made it a challenge to organize our things. It's a simple, safe, decent base in a good spot for exploring Kyoto. The futons and tatami can be comfortable once you're used to them, and the air conditioning was powerful. They changed the towels every day.

The futon feels like sleeping on a cloud, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and speak English well. I've stayed here twice. During my 2018 visit there was a 6.1SR earthquake, and the staff were very helpful about it. It's only a five-minute walk to Kyoto JR Station, which makes it more than worth the price. Each time I come, I feel like family. This will be my first choice in Kyoto.
