Being near Toji Temple was great, and all the sightseeing we did was within a 30-minute trip. The bathroom was spacious, lovely, and had lots of amenities; the washing machine was useful too. We had the most comfortable bed of our whole trip in Japan. The front desk staff were kind and helpful, and check-in and checkout were easy. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

We loved staying here. It’s a small, clean hotel with welcoming, very friendly staff, and it’s close to Toji temple. The train station is around a seven-minute walk away, then Kyoto station is one stop by train. There’s also a mall about an 11-minute walk away.

There’s no elevator, which could make things harder for older travelers or anyone bringing a lot of luggage. Otherwise, this suits light travel well. It has a hostel or efficiency feel, with a private room, bathroom, small kitchenette, and washing machine, but it isn’t a luxury hotel, so don’t expect bellhops or breakfast buffets. The staff are friendly and can help you get a taxi or find somewhere to eat.

The location is convenient, with a bus stop about two minutes away that goes to Kyoto’s busy areas, including Gion and Kiyomizu-dera. The neighborhood itself is pretty quiet, which I liked. My stay at the Pagoda Experience was very pleasant, and the room looked just like the picture, quite new and clean. I’d recommend it.

They cancelled my booking at the last minute during Japan’s Golden Week, while I was traveling. I’m due to have nowhere to stay in a few days, and hotels are booked months ahead. If you want to spend your holiday scrambling for somewhere else and risk sleeping on the street, this hotel will do the job.
