The Reign Hotel Kyoto Hotel

The location worked especially well for me since crowds make me anxious. It’s a little outside central Kyoto, about 10 minutes by train from Kyoto station, and I could walk to fushimi inari in around 30 minutes. I did that twice and got there before the crowds both times. Breakfast is worth considering: it looks lovely and has plenty of Western-style choices. The soft jazz is nice, though I found it a bit annoying that the songs were jazz versions of mainstream hits. Rooms are good, but quite dark, so opening the curtains won’t give you much of a view. Most staff spoke pretty good English. The Indian-looking woman at the desk was especially friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and I extended my stay by a night. For the price, the hotel is amazing. This was my second visit, and I’d come back again.

The lobby has a lovely design that opens onto the restaurant area, and the receptionists were very nice and greeted me respectfully. My king room had enough space for two checked bags and two carry-ons. The bathroom was clean and pleasant, with a high-pressure walk-in shower, though there’s no bathtub. The laundry room was clean too. Washing and drying cost ¥500, and there’s a microwave and ice machine in the same room. I was happy with the stay.

The metro and JR are close by, and although the location might not look promising at first, it actually works really well. There’s also a supermarket nearby. The rooms are lovely, with good beds and everything you need, and breakfast was good too. The staff were really nice. There’s a washer and dryer, which is super convenient. For dinner, there’s an Indian restaurant almost next door that’s okay, but I’d recommend Namaste.

The rooms are spacious, and the hotel is handy for walking to temples. Check-in was a real pleasure. A very kind young man even held the doors for us, and breakfast was very nice. The road outside is very loud. There’s no cappuccino in the morning unless you pay, and the mattress is very hard.
