Unknown Kyoto

Unknown Kyoto felt cozy, especially the room and the co-working space, and it has an old Japanese vibe. The area is quiet, with Kyoto station, a bus stop, Keihan Gojo Kawaramachi, and a 24-hour supermarket nearby. There’s a nice kitchen, and the staff were helpful and quick to respond. They let me check in early, which was a big help. I loved staying here.

Watch your head if you’re tall, the beams above the sink are easy to bump into! The restaurant next door is tasty, though a little pricey. The staff were friendly, and storing luggage was flexible and uncomplicated. My room was an adequate size. Having a co-working space was great for planning my route or getting food ready.

I’m satisfied with my stay, and the place suits people who want to study or work in a co-working setting. I liked the relaxed, atmospheric environment. The room, though, didn’t feel as good as other hostels in the same price range. The lower bed nearest the windows was noticeably colder. I managed by putting on a sweater, but I think beds in one room should have a similar standard. I’d also have liked more personal luggage space. No big deal.

The staff were amazing, and the toilets and showers were always clean. I slept well on the comfortable futon, with privacy curtains that helped. The repurposed old house had a really nice atmosphere. I stayed 4 nights for ¥11,800 at UNKNOWN's dormitory. The coworking space was a good place to work, with fast wifi, and the phone booth came in handy for calls.
