We had a memorable stay, and Mr ONO-san was a big part of that. He was charming, a bit eccentric, and always ready to help. The peaceful garden, just-right breakfast, and large, comfortable sleeping room made the Japanese experience especially enjoyable. The location was exceptional, too. It took us a while to adjust to Japanese scale and customs, but once we did, we loved it. There’s plenty of wardrobe space, although much of it is filled with the owner’s belongings. For a stay of more than a day, it would be better to have that space available to guests.

Staying in a traditional Kyoto house made the experience feel like part of our time in the area, around the clock. Mr. Ono looked after us so attentively and made sure we had what we needed each day. He even left umbrellas by the entrance when rain was in the forecast. It was truly exciting.

Our annex faced a small garden near the dining room, and it had a very traditional feel. The house was a bit cold in winter. The host spoke English and was wonderful about accommodating our family’s needs. He also makes an interesting person to talk to, and you can ask him for recommendations or a little introduction to Japanese culture. Breakfast was simple, with toast, fruit, cheese, milk, and juice, but there was plenty of it. A lovely choice if you enjoy staying in a traditional Japanese home.

Veada gave us a warm welcome, and Mr Ono was kind and ready to help with whatever we asked. We’ll remember the visit for a long time. The house is genuinely old-style Japanese, right in Kyoto’s old city, and we slept really well on traditional beds over tatami. Thanks, Ono san. We hope to see you again in the future.
